Osteosynthesis is one of the orthopedic procedures by which fragments of a broken bone are connected and fixed with wire, plates, wedges and other osteosynthetic material and enables the placement of broken fragments in an anatomical position, stable functional fixation of the broken bone and restoration of the active function of the broken bone. Due to impaired statics, architecture, material fatigue, osteoporosis, bone atrophy and others, late complications are possible, which are reflected in the fracture and tearing of osteosynthetic material and artificial implants, luxation of the artificial joint, implant falling out of the insertion bed, their rejection, etc. These late complications on osteosynthetic material and artificial joints are diagnosed by X-ray examination. The goal of the work is the radiographic presentation of late complications after osteosynthesis and arthroplasty, while the material of the work consists of selected radiographs with late complications after osteosynthesis and arthroplasty, collected through decades of work in the profession and literal reports. The results of the work are presented illustratively. The authors conclude that X-ray-diagnosed complications of osteosynthetic material and artificial joints require, a little later, another operation, in order to replace the osteosynthetic material with a new one, and to place the bone and joint in the correct physiological position.

Key words: osteosynthetic material, artificial joint, radiology, complications
